Stamp Club Recipe Swaps

Here are the recipe swaps that we made and traded at our last Stamp Tramp Meeting! Our them was "Favorite Holiday Recipes: Appetizers or Desserts" The first on is mine. This is actually my Aunt Darlene's recipe that she makes every Christmas Eve, but I love it so much that I usually make it on New Year's Eve and for birthday parties. It is a Hot Cheese Dip made from Velveeta and it is sooooooo gooooood!
I used Holiday Treasures DSP, and our Candy Striped Riding Hood Red Grosgrain Ribbon as well as the small Felt Flurries. This recipe card is simple but sweet.
The recipe above was from Amelia and it is for Cranberry Cream Delight which was a very tasty and refreshing dessert. You could actually swap out the cranberry Jello for a different flavor and make this a summertime recipe as well. It was very good! Notice the pointsettia is from the SU! stamp set "Doodle This"!

This recipe is Ruby's and was for New York Style Cheesecake...yummy! Check out the Top Note that was made using the Sizzix Big Shot. This unique shape really adds pizazz to the card.

Ok, I think the recipe above, Sandra's Chocolate Almond Coconut Balls was the hit of the party! These things were so darn good, we just couldn't stop eating them. Sandra left me some and I had to hide them in my fridge so my family would not gobble them up. Sandra always makes a Paula Deen recipe and they always turn out so good! You can't go wrong with Paula Deen, y'all!
I have one more recipe card to share, but I have to wait. Tia made her adorable card with a brand new Stampin' Up Spring/Summer Catalog Stamp set and I cannot show it yet! It is so bee-u-tiful, you will be buzzing with excitement! Do you get my hints?
I will probably not post any more until after Christmas so I want to wish everyone a fabulous holiday and I hope all of your Christmas wishes come true! A special hello to my Stamp Tramps: Merry Christmas, girls!

Last Weeks Stamp Club Projects, Finally

The girls made wall hangings from chipboard coasters and this is how they came out. Aren't they beautiful? From top left: Michelle & Diane (our 2 newest members), Sandra, Amelia and Ruby. Michelle and Ruby duplicated the one that I made as an example, but Diane, Sandra and Amelia designed their own and left room to mount pictures.
I thought the girls did an excellent job and everyone had a great time making them. We applied the DSP using Tombow Glue. We used the retured SU! corner rounder to round the corners because it seemed to best match the corners of the coasters. These coasters were just 5 cents each, so this was a very inexpensive home decor/gift item to make. If you would like more details, just email me and I will be happy to share! Check back tomorrow for pics of our recipe swap cards. Happy Holidays!

Random Mom Stuff

So my friend Lynsey emailed this Youtube video to me and I thought it was the funniest thing that I have seen in a long time....all of you mothers out there will totally get a kick out of this...and recognize many words that have come out of your own mouth...take a look!

The MOM Song!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMhuAtyFCrw

I should send this to the lady in Arkansas (Michelle Duggar) that just gave birth to her 18th child yesterday. 18 kids....and she is 43..Is she crazy or what? If you aren't famliar with her family's story you can read it here: http://www.duggarfamily.com/. The have a show on TLC that comes on right after Jon & Kate Plus 8 (which I totally love). Their show is called "17 kids and Counting".....it is freaky....they annoy me but yet I cannot stop watching....

Stupid memory card!

Hello all! I have so many cute pics to show you of Saturday's Stamp Club projects. However, the stinkin' memory card that came free with my BRAND NEW CAMERA is a dud! It will not work at all. I have emailed Costco for a replacement and they are nice enough to give me a new one, but I cannot get my pics onto my pc. I know they can be transferred using the cord, but I am too retarded to figure that one out, so I must wait until my daughter does it for me. She is mad at me right now for not buying her the new FALL OUT BOY CD that came out today. Little does she know (and she won't see this as she doesn't give a poo about my blog) that I got if for her stocking. Anyway, I just spent 3 hours making 2 awesome Christmas presents on Shutterfly for my mom and mom-in-law for Chrismas, so I am about done with this computer. I will try to get her to help me tomorrow. P.S. I will share Shutterfly gifts after Christmas. They are so awesome. If you haven't checked out Shutterfly here is the link: http://shutterfly.com

Still Lovely As A Tree!

So here is my "Lovely as a Tree". As I pulled out this set a few weeks ago, I was thinking about my Grandma Gladys and her white Christmas Tree. She had this tree and I swear it must have been from the 50's or 60's. It was artificial and white and very strange looking to me. The ornaments were bright and some were pink and some were blue. I loved it. Who knew then that those trees and colors would make such a huge comeback. Everywhere I go now, I see artificial trees of pink, blue, white, heck, I even saw a black one at Borders Books tonight. When I see those trees I think of Grandma and I miss her so much. The whole Perkins side of the family would gather at her house on Christmas Eve and eat and open presents. It was so magical. So this card is dedicated to my Grandma and her funky tree (which would now be considered vintage). Merry Christmas, Grandma. We miss you.
Supplies: All Stampin' Up!, Not Quite Navy CS, Sweet Always DSP, Lovely as a tree & Cute and Curly Stamp Sets. Top Note Die, Pretty in Pink Marker, Not Quite Navy Stamp Pad, Encore Silver Stamp Pad, Curly Label Punch, Pink Round Rhinestone Brads and of course, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter1

Ruby Johnson does it again!

This gorgeous card was made by my best friend Ruby J and it was the winner of the card contest at Stamp Camp a few weeks ago! Congrats Ruby. I think this makes her a 3 or 4 time winner of the Stamp Camp card contest. She used one of my all time fave stamp sets: Lovely as a Tree. I gotta say, this stamp set has been around a while and each year someone comes up with a new way to use it. She stamped the tree off of the edge of the top note and then sponged the edged for a vintage look and then glittered up every other tree. It is even more stunning in person. I used this set to make a vintage shabby chic Christmas card and I will post that picture tomorrow after I get back from a girls day out: christmas shopping, movie watching and dinner with the chicas! We are going to see "Four Christmases" which looks really funny, so I will let you know tomorrow how it was!

Stamp Retreat Shoebox Project

Here is my shoebox project for our Stamper's Retreat a few weeks ago. If you are not familiar with a shoebox project here is what it means: You design a project and then you prepare supplies, stamps and cardstock for however many people are going to be in your class or group and you stick it all in a shoebox. You then take it to your meeting, class or get-together and everyone gets to make each other's projects.

This card was mine and it featured the butterfly, bumblebee and script stamps from the set "Flores Suaves" that is in our spanish catalog "Celebrando Creatividad". I love this set because of the butterfly and bee and also because of the script stamp (very similar to "French Script" from a couple of years ago, but in spanish). I paired the set with Not Quite Navy Ink and CS, Patterns DSP in Pirouette Pink and Baja Breeze and I used the Top Note die for the Big Shot. I used a "Pretty in Pink" marker to outline the edge of the Top Note and then added 2 way glue and pink chunky glitter. I stamped one of the butterflies on vellum and cut it out and stuck it on with a dimensional just to make it pop. I topped it all off witha piece of Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon. I was really pleased with this card and the girls voted it their fave in the contest at the retreat which made me really happy as these ladies are super-stampers and awesome designers themselves.

They are so awesome, in fact, that they designed and created this banner using Bella Rose DSP and the Pennant die for the Big Shot. How cool is that? I snapped a pic of some of the ladies standing on the balcony of the cabin with the banner. From left: Kim, Patricia, Carissa, Pam, Bev, Angie and Karen. What a great group of stampers!

Special gifts from special friends

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to a Stampin' Up! Demo's retreat up in Arnold. Our little soiree was hosted by 2 of our uplines, Beverlee and Karen. I have to say, these ladies are the sweetest, most supportive leaders. We stayed in a beautiful cabin in the mountains, all of the leaves were red and yellow and the drive was just gorgeous. The best part, however, was the time that I got to spend with such a wonderful group of stamping superstars! My sideline Kathy drove us (our awesome upline Kim and I) up on Saturday morning and we spent the entire day and night just stamping and eating, eating and stamping! The experience was unforgettable! Our group is made up of such wonderful, positive, creative, supportive women and we had such a fun time sharing project ideas, supplies, cooking meals, laughing and playing games. I am so proud of our group, we even stamped over 20 cards to donate to the Ronald McDonald House! I gotta say, we rock! The 2 adorable items that you see above were given to us by our hostesses, Beverlee and Karen. Bev made these cute little candy bottles for us and when we woke up on Sunday morning we found these beautiful notebooks, monogrammed no less, waiting for us on our tables. Karen had stayed up most of the night making these as a suprise for us! This is why I am part of the Stampin' Up! sisterhood, there is no experience like it!
I just want to give a shout out to all of the ladies that I spent time with - Bev, Karen, Kim, Kathy, Linda, Angie, Patricia, Pam, Debbie and my newest stamping friend, Carissa! I will share more pics tomorrow as well as a couple of awesome projects that were made at retreat. See ya then!

Stamp Camp Projects

On Saturday, November 22, I was fortunate enough to participate (as a demo) in a Stamp Camp hosted by my friend (and upline) Kim. We had 23 ladies come to her house to enjoy a day of stamping as well as shopping our garage sale of retired stamps and accessories. The ladies loved our cards and got some great garage sale bargains, which means we made a little cash to use for Christmas presents (or pre- order items from the upcoming Spring/Summer Catalog)! I am always sad to say goodbye to my retired sets,
but I know they found good homes.
These 2 cards were the ones that I taught to the ladies and they really seemed to like them a lot.
The card above features our Holiday Treasures DSP as well as the Big Shot Top Note Die, Curly Label Punch Bundle and Riding Hood Red Cardstock. It showcases just one more way to use your Top Note. What a versatile product!
The card below features my favorite holiday set this year: Winter Post! I absolutely love the vintage look of this set and I hope SU! comes out with more vintage looking items as our customers really seemed to like this set! I used a strip of Ski Slope DSP (featured in the Holiday mini catalog, along with this stamp set and the Big Shot Top Note Die). We watercolored the skating couple using ink and blender pens and then added a litte bling (Dazzling Diamonds)!
Please excuse the blurry pics, my camera is a bit fussy these days. Hope you enjoy the projects and I will have a few more things to share tomorrow!

Simply Scrappin' Class and a little RAK!

So yesterday was my "I Wish" Simply Scrappin' Xmas Card Class....here is a glance at the pile of cards that the ladies got to make. I had a full table of ladies and they ended up making 16 4"x4" cards that can be mailed in a regular sized envelope or attached to Christmas gifts. This kit is so versatile as you can make cards, scrapbook pages, home decor items....the list is just endless. The great thing about our Simply Scrappin' Kits is that everything in the Kit is perfectly coordinated: textured cardstock, exclusive designer series paper and 6 sheets of self-adhesive die cut borders and stickers. Just add a little ribbon, brads or buttons and you are on your way to creating fabulous projects!

I want to give a special thanks to my stamp buddy/customer/student, Anita. She made a special Holiday gift for each one of the ladies that attended class and they were so cute. I took a photo of the one that she made for me (along with the adorable little card). She used the Big Shot Top Note Die and the retured SU! stamp set, "Cold Play" for this project and I am always so happy to see my stamping friends use what they buy!

She put some hot cocoa packets and chocolates in our bags and I also received some really cute card candy in mine. Thanks again, Anita, you are such a sweet lady. I enjoyed having your daughter, Katie as a student yesterday as well. You can check out Anita's blog here:

So very busy!

Hello blog readers! Sorry I have been lagging in the posting department. I am taking part in a stamp camp this weekend with 3 other demos and I am using all my spare time to prep my projects for that event. I have so much to share! Last weekend I went on a stampin' retreat up in the mountains with a super awesome group of demos and had such a fabulous time. I will share the cards I made, my shoebox projects as well as the cool gifts that I received from my very talented upline ladies! I haven't had any good outdoor light to snap photos yet, but I will share after stamp camp! Enjoy the rest of the week and to all of you stamp camper customers of mine: see you on Saturday!

I am finally back! (With Stamp Club Projects)

Hello my friends (do I sound like Senator McCain)? I am finally feeling better and hope you are doing well. Try to stay away from the nasty cold virus bug thing that is being passed around.
I finally worked up the energy and took some pics of last Saturday's Stamp Tramp Projects. The 2 Christmas cards were done in no time, but the 4 little tags took a while longer. Must have been all of the punches that were used! These little tags were the idea of a fellow demonstrator (except for the star tag, that was my design). They are a great way to use your punches and scraps and if you are making them on your own, they take no time at all. My fave is the little penguin. We used too many punches to list, but if you would like instructions, just email me. If you are a customer of mine and don't have all of the necessary punches, but would like to make the tags, just let me know. I am thinking of have a class to make them for just $5.00. No set date or anything, just whenever we can get together!

We used the "Winter Post" Stamp Set,"Ski Slope DSP" and the new small "Felt Flurries" Snowflakes (all available in the Holiday Mini Catalog) to make the card above. We also used the Designer Label and Large Circle Punches as well.
To make the card below, we used "Felt Flurries" again, as well as "Season of Friendship" Stamp Set, Curly Label Punch and Stamp Set, Baja Breeze CS and Ribbon, Chunky Glitter, Dazzling Diamonds, Not Quite Navy CS and Urban Garden DSP. I think it makes a gorgeous winter wonderland card, don't you? The "Season of Friendship" Stamp set is so versatile, you can use it for so many seasons and holidays. If you would like to know how to get these products or make these projects just email me at: lexyjulz1@aol.com. I would be happy to share how!
The Stamp Tramps were very happy with their projects and we even had a few guests attend! Thanks to Kindra and a very special guest, Patrice, a visitor from Canada! Yes, she came all the way to attend a Stamp Club meeting. Not really, she is Tia's mom and I have to say she is quite the talented little stamper for a beginner!

That's all for now. I have to get my projects ready and pack for our Stamper's Retreat this weekend! A bunch of us are heading up to a cabin in Arnold for a weekend of nothin' but stampin' and hangin' out with the girls. I will post more on that when I get back on Sunday! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Still MIA

Sorry, I am still MIA. I came down with a horrible cold virus on Saturday and I think it has turned into a sinus infection. Yuck! I squeezed Stamp Club in just time but I haven't had the energy to snap photos or make anything, so please be patient with me. I am headed back to the couch now, for more movie watching, snoozing and nose-blowing.

11/7/08

MIA>>>>again!

Aaargh! I just cannot seem to get it together this past week! I have been a very bad blogger, but I promise I will post tomorrow's stamp club projects after our meeting. I have designed 2 very cute Christmas cards and we will be making some holiday gift tags as well! Gotta go, my house looks like a tornado hit and I have to clean it for club tomorrow. Nighty-Night!

I've been MIA!

After a long week at work and prepping for my 17 yr old DD's b-day party, I actually have time to post and stamp today. Here is a card that I started at my friend (and upline) Kim's and finished at home. She was kind enough to let us use her Big Shot Pennants Die (which I don't have yet) so we could see how easy it is to make a criss-cross card with it. I just love it! So simple and the best part is you get a few scallops die cut with the pennants so you can add them to your card as embellishments. I added a Chocolate Chip one under the round tab punched piece on the pink insert and another punched from "Sweet Always" DSP. When I got home I added my stamped images - "Happy Birthday" flower image from "WOW Flowers" and "Live, Laugh and Love" from "It's Your Birthday". I topped the project off with a few little flowers punched with the Boho Flower Punch, a "Filigree Flower" brad and some Double Stitched Chocolate Chip Ribbon. Whatcha think?

Stamp 'n' Share Sunday

I recently went in on a chipboard coaster share with a fellow demonstrator (Thanks, Pam Sanchez!) so I decided to pull them out last night and make something! This is what I came up with: a cute little wall hanging using my favorite new stamp set, Season of Friendship. This set will be available in the Holiday Mini until January 18th. I used another item from the Holiday mini: Autumn Vine Designer Series paper. This is the perfect paper for fall, but I also used it in case I wanted to keep this project for myself. You see my living room walls are painted Sage Shadow and this matches perfectly! I never keep my home decor projects, they are usually gifts for someone else, but I just might keep this one since it matches so well!
On the piece above I used one of our new chipboard frames, the True Friend Stamp from one of our Level 1 Hostess sets (it fits perfectly inside the new scalloped sqaure punch, which I used but then cut into thirds, the other 2 parts of the image make up the mustard scallop border on top of the Sage DSP). The DSP adheres very nicely to the chipboard coaster when you use our Tombow glue. I just smear it all over the coaster and then place the paper on top. The coasters measure 4" x 4" exactly so it is very east to size the paper. I have found that the corner rounder punch that was retired last year works better than our current one, it is rounder. I simply use one of our sanding blocks very quickly on the edges, and voila, I have my background piece ready to decorate!
On the next piece I used the tree, leaves and bird from Seasons of Friendship and then made my little flowers from Autumn Vine DSP using the Birds & Blooms Big Shot Dies.
The final piece features more Autumn Vine DSP as well as our new Alpine Grosgrain Ribbon and a cute little flower made from the circle and edge scallop punches. I added a little extra by paper piercing above and below the sentiment and topped it of with a brad and leaves from the Birds & Blooms Big Shot Die. The colors featured in this project are Sage Shadow, Choc Chip, More Mustard, Really Rust and Whisper White. I aged the Whisper White pieces a bit by sponging Choc Chip lightly around the edges. I think this project will be great for our December Stamp Tramp Meeting. The girls will enjoy making this really unique and easy gift item. Thanks for looking and have a great week!

More cards from the Roof Garden!

Here are a couple more cards that we made last Saturday at my "Roof Garden" class. These 2 card ideas were cased with a twist from a super demo named Jen. She has her own blog and always has great class ideas. You can check her out here: http://jenstampin.blogspot.com/

Anyway, I took her wonderful design and added some half pearls from the Pretties Kit, just to give the cards a little extra bling and dimension. I also added the dots on the top card with our Signo White Gel Pen, which I believe is the best white gel pen on the market today.

I would love to repeat this class which included the "Roof Garden" Accents and Element Kit as well as 7 cards made from it. These cards are super easy to make and you get to take the rest of your kit home to make more or use them in your scrapbooks! The class fee was $25.00 so if you are interested leave me a comment and I will set up another class. I might even set up a class with the "Seasons to Share" Accents & Elements to make Christmas Cards instead. Tim Daly and fashion accessories...what the heck?

Sounds good to me...if the shoe fits buy it in every color. This adorable birthday card was made for me by my good friend Tia. Isn't it sweet? The stamp set is Stampin' Up, but sadly it has retired and darn it, I never got it. It is sooooo cute...don't you just love the cute little purse and shoes? She used Bella Rose Designer Series Paper, Pink Taffeta Ribbon and the ever popular Scallop Circle punch to bring it all together. My friend Tia makes the cutest cards and I feel privileged to have received one! I think it was a nice way to celebrate my 40th birthday, don't you?
Gotta run, I just received a new book in the mail and I cannot wait to start it, since my show "Private Practice" is not on tonight. I guess I will have to wait another week for my Tim Daly fix, McDreamy has got nothing on him! I can't decide which is prettier, Tia's card, or Tim? Hmmmm. this I will have to sleep on! Goodnight!

Roof Garden

Here is one of the cards that we made in my "Roof Garden Accents & Elements" Class that was held last Saturday after Stamp Club. We used Kiwi Kiss, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Shimmery White Cardstock for this class as well as the new Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze In Color Ribons. The only stamping that was done was with the "Wonderful Favorites" Stamp set used for the greeting. All of the main images were created with the wonderful die cut stickers that are part of the Roof Garden Accents & Elements Kit. These stickers are great for easy-peasy cardmaking as well as scrapbooking. My ladies made 7 cute cards in less than 2 hours! The only embellishments that we added were half pearls from the Pretties Kit and flourishes made with the Signo White Gel Pen and Not Quite Navy Marker. Please excuse the blurry pic, I am still learning how to use my brand new camera. I will post more pics from this class tomorrow. Thanks for looking and have a great Tuesday night!

Sneak peek....Simply Scrappin' Card Class!

So here are a few of the cards that I made yesterday out of the "I Wish" Simply Scrappin Kit. In less than 2 hours I made 16 4" x 4" Xmas cards. The only stamps I used were the ones from "Many Merry Messages" which is a great stamp set for outside and inside of your Xmas cards. This group of cards features no ribbon or embellishments, just cardstock, dsp and the die cut stickers from the kit. I did use my paper piercing tool and mat to add a little detail. I will soon be adding this class to my schedule so keep watching! Thanks for looking!

Stamp Club Projects

Here are the 2 projects that I taught my girls at yesterday's Stamp Tramp stamp club meeting. The one of the top was made with "Crazy for Cupcakes" one of the great b-day sets that are 20% off this month. I paired it with Sweet Always DSP and the Top Note die cut from the Big Shot. I added Choc Chip wide double stitched grosgrain ribbon as well as Choc Chip 1/4 in grosgrain. We colored the image in with SU! markers and a Sakura clear glitter pen (oh no! non SU contraband...shhhh don't tell!). We added Felt Fusion 1 and 2 flowers and an orange square rhinestone brad. What do you think? This is one of my favorite cards that I have ever created.
On our second project we used stuff from the Holiday Mini, like the Autumn Vine DSP, Alpine Felt Ribbon, the leaf stamp from "Season of Friendship" stamp set and the scallop die cut from the Big Shot. I also added the flower and filigree brads, which are brand new and adorable, as well as the Gratitude stamp from the "Define Your Life" stamp set. This card really screams fall and can be used for Thanksgiving or a thank you card. I had a third project, a Halloween Pillow box made from "Ghostly Greetings" DSP and the Scary Skulls Stampin' Around Wheel. It was due cut with the Big Shot and filled with these cool Halloween colored M&M's. I just loved it, and so did my Border Collie, Chloe. She ate it this morning and all that was left was the Kiwi Kiss ribbon and scallop. Oh well, maybe one of my girls with take a pic of theirs and email it to me.
Anyway, that is all for now. I did some stamping today and made 16 cards from my "I Wish" Simply Scrappin' Kit and I will share a few of those with you tomorrow. Today was a good day to stay in, it was our first cold day here in my part of California and I just could not get warm. I still have birthday invitations to make for my oldest daughter, Lindsey. She will be 17 in a few weeks. Where does the time go? I can still remember her 1st birthday.
