Back with something to share!

Hello friends!
After a busy last week I am back with some cool items to share with you.  This boxed set of birthday cards was created for a raffle fundraiser for a local family that needs help due to the mother's serious illness.  You can learn more about the DeLay family by clicking the link in the upper right hand corner of my blog.  My box of cards was added to a gift basket that was being raffled off at Unique Boutiques last weekend.
The cards were made using some of my very favorite Stampin' Up! products.  Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink card stock make up the card base and butterflies.  I ran the cards and the envelopes thru the Big Shot using our Texturz Plates. Once I cut the butterflies with the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die I then ran them thru again using a couple of our Textured Impressions Folders.  I added a clear Rhinestone Brad to the centers of my butterflies and I was done.
The box was made using a very easy template that I got from my friend Karen and then I created the decorations on top using the new Large Fancy Flower Punch, 5 Petal Punch, Scalloped Oval Punch and Large Oval Punch.  The smaller butterflies were created with the Beautiful Wings Embosslet for the Big Shot.  The gorgeous designer series paper is called "Sending Love" and is featured in our new Spring Mini Catalog.  And how do you like that luscious Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon.  I have used so much of this ribbon in my clubs, classes and workshops, that it is time to restock already.

I hope the recipient of my card box enjoys my creation as I was very happy to make it for such a wonderful cause.  If you would like to help the DeLay Family you can come to my fundraising event on Saturday, March 6th @ 6:30 pm in Turlock.  You get to make 4 super cute cards for minimum donation of just $10.00.  More info HERE

NSR - A book recommendation from me!

Hello friends,
I took a little break from stamping tonight because I am currently wrapped up in a book I picked up from "Yestderday's Books"(an awesome used bookstore in Modesto).  I started it a couple of days ago but immersed myself into it last night.  I could not put it down until about 2am this morning. I have been telling my coworkers about it all day and I just have to share it with you too!  I have one word to describe this book: AMAZING!  It is about healing, the bonds of friendship, love and STRONG WOMEN.  I had tears rolling down my face in some parts and caught myself cracking up in others.  If you are an avid reader like me (a passion I had long before I took up stamping) or even if you are not, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.  For those of you that take my suggestion and pick up a copy, please let me know what you think.  If you live near me, I would be happy to loan you mine.  Here is an excerpt from Amazon.com about the book:

"I left my wedding dress hanging in a tree somewhere in North Dakota. I don't know why that particular tree appealed to me. Perhaps it was because it looked as if it had given up and died years ago and was still standing because it didn't know what else to do..."

In her deliciously funny, heartfelt, and moving debut, Cathy Lamb introduces some of the most wonderfully eccentric women since The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and The Secret Life of Bees, as she explores the many ways we find the road home.
From the moment Julia Bennett leaves her abusive Boston fiancé at the altar and her ugly wedding dress hanging from a tree in South Dakota, she knows she's driving away from the old Julia, but what she's driving toward is as messy and undefined as her own wounded soul. The old Julia dug her way out of a tortured, trailer park childhood with a monster of a mother. The new Julia will be found at her Aunt Lydia's rambling, hundred-year-old farmhouse outside Golden, Oregon.
There, among uppity chickens and toilet bowl planters, Julia is welcomed by an eccentric, warm, and often wise clan of women, including a psychic, a minister's unhappy wife, an abused mother of four, and Aunt Lydia herself--a woman who is as fierce and independent as they come. Meeting once a week for drinks and the baring of souls, it becomes clear that every woman holds secrets that keep her from happiness. But what will it take for them to brave becoming their true selves? For Julia, it's chocolate. All her life, baking has been her therapy and her refuge, a way to heal wounds and make friends. Nobody anywhere makes chocolates as good as Julia's, and now, chocolate just might change her life--and bring her love when she least expects it. But it can't keep her safe. As Julia gradually opens her heart to new life, new friendships, and a new man, the past is catching up to her. And this time, she will not be able to run but will have to face it head on.
Filled with warmth, love, and truth, Julia's Chocolates is an unforgettable novel of hope and healing that explores the hurts we keep deep in our hearts, the love that liberates us, the courage that defines us, and the chocolate that just might take us there.

Another "Happy B-day" Sneak Peek

A few of the cards from my upcoming "Happy B-Day" Card Class which features the Simply Scrappin kit of the same name.  Our kits are not just for scrapbooks.  If you are new to stamping, the kits are a great way to make a bunch of cards (and scrapbook pages) without having to use a lot of different supplies.  You just need a kit, some ribbon and maybe a few buttons and brads.  I will show you how to make 8 cards and a cute box to put them in.  These kits are also great if you are pressed for time, as you can make the cards very quickly as well as put together a scrapbook in as little as 2 hours! See my previous post for more info on this great class.

Happy B-Day Class Sneak Peek!

Here is a little sneak peek at one of the projects from my Happy B-Day Class on February 27th.  This is the box that you will be making in which you can take home your cards and reuse as a gift box.  It is so easy to make and if you attend the class you will receive the template for this box so you can re-create it over and over again.  Here is the class info:

Little Box of Love Notes

This was one of the projects that my Stamp Tramps made for our January Club Gathering.  It was a great project to showcase many of the new products available in the Spring Mini Catalog.  The color combo is Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Very Vanilla.  Some of the items used to make this card:

Heart Of Hearts Emblosslit Die, Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, Sending Love Designer Series Paper,
Whimsical Words Stamp Set, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Chocolate Chip Epoxy Brads.

Notice the beautiful crystal platform the projects are sitting on?  Those are just some of the acrylic blocks available to use with our unmounted stamps.  They are so beautiful that you can photograph your projects on them.  I love items that have a dual purpose, don't you?

The cute little box was made by adhering 2 scallop envelopes together with a scored strip of cardstock.  The envelopes were cut with the SU! exclusive Scallop Envelope Die for the Big Shot.
