Foothill Village Project

I am so blessed to work from home! When Greg offered me the opportunity to quit my full time job of 17 years and become a full time paper crafter one of the first things that came to my mind was the fact that I would now have time to volunteer my talents & supplies to teach others how to craft.  The first place that I thought of was Foothill Village, a local retirement village up on the hill behind our home.  It has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made! These ladies really make my day and I think that they kinda like me too.

In the past we have made cards and bookmarks but on my last visit they said that they would like to make something to decorate their front doors, so that is what we did this month!  I used one of my all time favorite Designer Series Papers: Everyday Enchantment (which is currently available on the Clearance Rack for just $2.19)!  The ladies loved the colors in this pattern, so it was a good choice!  And did you know that when you purchase a package of any of our Specialty Designer Series Papers, they are packaged with a 12x12 piece of heavy chipboard? This is a bonus, because chipboard of that quality is pretty pricey in the craft stores.  I always keep mine for projects like this and it's nice to be able to recycle something as well.

Here is what I did for the base:

Cut Pool Party cardstock 4"x12"
Cut chipboard 3.75" x 11.75"
Cut DSP 3.75 x 11.75"

You can use Tombow 2 Way Glue, Glue Stick or Sticky Strip to attach the DSP to the Chipboard and then the chipboard to the card stock backer. SNAIL will not be strong enough, so I would advise one of those three adhesives.

I then cut a 2"x11" strip of Pool Party, embossed it with one of my embossing folders, cut the 2nd largest flower from the Flower Framelits, added a a circle cut from the same package of DSP and glued them down to my base.  I stamped WELCOME with one of my retired alphabet sets, punched it out with the 1 3/4" circle punch and popped every other letter up with a dimensional while snailing down the others. I topped everything off with flower embellishments made from the new Pansy Punch, smallest scallop circle punch and  Itty Bitty Circle Punch.  I used our Adhesive Rhinestones and Candy Dot brad bases for the centers.  Did you know that you can color our Rhinestones with Fine Point Sharpie Markers to make them any color that you need?  A great tip I got from Patty Bennett!

Here is another look at the DSP that I used, it is a great deal and won't last forever!

Wheely Sweet Friend!

Happy Monday!

I can say that now that I don't have to punch a time clock from Monday thru Friday anymore...LOL!
No, I actually worked on Saturday...from 12:30 to 10:00 pm.  So my "new" work hours are not very traditional.  Long day, but oh so much fun!! I drove to Turlock to spend the day with my Stamp Tramps! First we had our June Stamp Club Gathering then later, the Summer Stamp-a-rama class! This cute card is from that class!  I cannot stop saying how much I love this brand new stamp set, "Cycle Celebrations"! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It just makes me happy. So does this new paper: Birthday Basics! Love the colors and designs. I'm thinking that this combo would make a really great product based class as well.

This is a Joy Fold card which is also a favorite of mine. You can find a great tutorial here: YouTube

This card also features the new Brights Candy Dots which are so much fun and very easy to use! I used them on the centers of the wheels!  Here is a look at the stamps that come in this set:

And here is a look at this gorgeous Designer Series Paper:

And here are what the Candy Dots look like:

You can even use these cool little adhesive dots (which come in all four basic color families) with our new Candy Dots Brad Bases:
Hope you liked my share today!
Until next time ~

A special day for a special girl!

Tonight we celebrate the 8th grade graduation of my youngest daughter, Natalie.  I am so proud of my girl, she has come so far this past year. She has always been a great student and after moving up here to Angels Camp and starting a new school she made the Honor Roll both semesters! She has also made new friends and has really come out of her shell.  She would kill me if she knew I was posting about her but I am just so happy that she is adjusting to her new life.  A year ago she would not even have smiled for the camera and look at her now.  I ♥ her so much! I know she will do great in high school where she will be a Bret Harte Bullfrog.  Go Bullfrogs!

I am such a happy mom!

Until next time ~

A sweet gift...

I just have to share a wonderful gift that I received from one of my Stampin' Up! Mammas. This beautiful bundle of goodies was presented to me from Karen at our recent Catalog Preview Party. She is such a sweetheart, I just love her so much! The This and That Journal is to document all of the fun we will be having at convention in July. She even included a pack of the matching Epic Day Designer Series Paper!  Look at the card, bookmark and dress favor she made! There is a lip balm inside of the dress! Too cute! Thanks, Karen, for the support and inspiration! Can't wait to fill up this journal with convention memories!
